The Guardian

Handcrafted earthenware vessel with a matching lid. The body is covered with an incised lattice pattern – square by square, line by line, worked into the leather-hard clay. Unglazed, black. On the lid stands a small figure on a square pedestal – patient, upright, watchful. It is the guardian. It protects what lies within. There resides all my love for this work with the material.
